Spur Building Class June 30-July 2nd 2025
This spur making class will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday June 30th, July 1st, July 2nd 2025
8am-5pm will be the maximum time we will have to work each day, I enforce this to ensure that i have enough time to get prepared for the next day.
$1,000.00 per class (maximum of 6 people)
You will be making a pair of Spurs that will be yours to keep, all materials will be provided (for 1 pair of spurs). This class is geared for the guy or gal that that is looking to refine their techniques and learn more advanced methods of the spur making process. We will be using waterjet parts and I will also demonstrate other methods of cutting and fabricating. We will bend bands, slot shanks, weld or brad on shanks, shape and file rowels, build button hangers, shape and polish all parts. We will discuss the different methods of metal finish from sander belts, buffing compounds to stone finishing. Basic silver soldering will be demonstrated. The amount of time that we spend on silver soldering and clean up will be determined by how quickly your spurs are completed and ready to be mounted. I will furnish silver initials that can be soldered onto your spurs or you can bring a simple brand with you that you cut out at your shop. You will be restricted to a minimal amount of soldering simply because we will be limited on time. We will go through the post solder clean up process and apply a finish to the spurs. There will not be any engraving on these spurs; however, I will discuss my engraving process.
I have 4 Outlaw Grinder stations setup to allow almost every student to work at their own pace and not be pressured to hurry. Basic understanding of metal fabrication will be beneficial to you but not required.

A nonrefundable $500.00 deposit is required to reserve your spot. The balance will be due upon arrival. There is a $100 discount for those that choose to pay in full when reserving their spot.
